I have an Outlook 2016 task that recurs every week. At the beginning of the week, I open the task and in the body type in the date, and then add some notes. For the rest of the week, I periodically open it up and type more notes. At the end of the week, I hit "Complete" and Outlook generates a new task for the next week. Outlook automatically pushes all the text down a couple lines and prepends it with about a dozen hyphens "---------". Now it's ready for me to start all over again.
I've played around with recurring tasks and can't get Outlook to consistently repeat the behavior of pushing text down a few lines and prepending it with hyphens. It happens consistently if I use the task as I mentioned above, but it does not happen consistently if I simply open up a task and add text in the body.
First, does anyone know exactly how, why, and when Outlook will do this behavior?
Second, is there any way to create a sort of recuring task template to modify how it does this behavior? Specifically, I'd like it to begin each newly recurred task with a prepended table with specific items as headers.
So my first use will display:
Then, after I hit complete, the newly created recurred task will look like this:
