"Insert Pictures" Button-Wrong Folder

My "Pictures" folder is defined locally as C:\Data\MyPictures
In File Explorer, If I input "shell: My Pictures" in the address bar, it will open this folder.
Here is the registry setting.

However, when composing emails, the toolbar button "Insert Pictures" always opens OneDrive\Documents

Any help much appreciated!
 
It opens my documents folders too. I believe that is by design - the 'insert picture' command is a filter for picture file types:
All Pictures (*.emf;*.wmf;*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.jfif;*.jpe;*.png;*.bmp;*.dib;*.rle;*.gif;*.emz;*.wmz;*.tif;*.tiff;*.svg;*.ico;*.heif;*.heic;*.hif;*.avif;*.webp)

If you insert a picture from your pictures folder, Outlook should default to that folder until you close and reopen Outlook.
 
The post above is the behavior from my Dell XPS-15.
I checked my other PC, a Dell Inspiron-15 with the same version of Win 11 and Outlook.
The Inspiron has My Pictures located at %USERPROFILE%\Pictures and behaves as expectedView attachment 3756
So on the XPS, I moved My Pictures to be located at %USERPROFILE%\Pictures.
Unfortunately, it still references Documents
 
Please ignore my prior reply, I was unable to edit it as too much time had expired.
After making the above changes, I found a typo in the folder properties\location tab.
After correcting, it now works as expected,

So, I guess as a profile system folder, it must be under the profile (?).
I wonder if yours is perhaps located elsewhere.

Been there, done that... more than once.

:)


My documents folder is on my D drive - moved using the option on the folder properties to move it. Pictures is 'backed up' to OneDrive - which would be under the user path, except I moved OneDrive to the E drive. (the mobo on my older computer went bad but it had a 2TB drive... so I put it in this computer.)

I will try to remember that moving the folder makes a difference. :) Thanks.
