This is a bit out there in left field, but anyone tried making any legacy app Outlook plug-in that used to run on Outlook XP/2003 against Exchange 2007, using CDOEX.DLL, to run against a modern Outlook / Exchange system? Without rebuilding the legacy app?
I imagine it would require some kind of UI Outlook plug-in "shim" to control the legacy plug-in, and some kind of MAPI router that would take the old RPC MAPI and translate it into a modern MAPI over HTTP (or MAPI/RPC over HTTP) protocol. I know already the answer to "is this a good idea" because it isn't. I know the difficulty level would be likely astronomical if not impossible. That being said...
Has anyone tried something in this area?
