I have backup copies of outlook.pst and archive.pst on old pc that finally died of SSD failure (c: drive). Are there any websites documents/guidelines/suggestions of how to import those copies into new Windows 11 pc? I haven't installed Microsoft 365 (with SMTP server) yet on the new computer, but someone Yahoo email got automatically installed during one of the updates.

Kinda of mixed opinions about Outlook classic vs new, which makes it confusing to me.
Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!!

You don't need to import - you only need to copy them to the new computer / drive. Open them in Outlook using file > open & export > open Outlook data file. If you use a POP account and deliver mail to one of the old pst, you can select it when you add the account to outlook.

Is there some conflict or consideration for "3rd party aps" between Outlook and Yahoo-email? It seems like Dell installed an email account for yahoo email as well as outlook classic, all during first few system updates. I guess that would be helpful if you just used Yahoo email software. I don't want to mess up my long-time use of classic outlook SMTP POP etc.

There should not be a problem, especially if it's a separate yahoo app - either don't use it or uninstall it.

You will need to get an app password at yahoo.com (under security in your yahoo account settings) to add the account as pop.

If you have a backup of Outlook PST files, you can easily import them into any Windows version of Outlook. If the PST file gets corrupted, you will have to recover it. For this, you can use a third-party tool, but I would recommend you to use MailsDaddy PST Recovery tool.
I just upgraded from an old Win 10 system to a newly purchased system running Win 11. The old system ran Outlook 2013 (please no comments ...) and of course the new system is running Office 365. I copied over a PST file from the old system to the new system. Outlook refused to open that PST file, even though on the old system I can close and open that PST file no problem. The file size, if it matters, is 4.17 GB. I ran scanpst on the problem PST file about 4 or 5 times, unless I got a "minor inconsistencies only" message.

My workaround was to export as a csv file contacts calendar, tasks, blocked senders, and then import those csv files into the new system's outlook. That was easy. For email, I had to create 6 new PST files. Then I had to laboriously copy individual folders from the problem PST file into one of my 6 new PST files. Once I finished that process, I moved those new PST files to the new system, and created a new PST file containing all the folders. Ugh.

Did you get an error message when you tried to open the pst? It definitely should have opened in... the only issue I've seen is a bug where Outlook thinks there is a password on the pst. This is not uncommon when you copy it using usb media - the only solution is a 3rd party pstpassword remover (I like the one from nirsoft.net).

If you copied it using OneDrive (or other cloud service), make sure it is done syncing on the old computer, is fully downloaded on the new, perferrably copied to a local folder outside of OneDrive... but as long as it is marked to keep on the computer and fully downloaded, it will open.

Have you compared MailsDaddy with any of the other well-known PST repair programs? Why did you select this program?

You can import your .pst files into classic Outlook by following these steps:

  1. Install Microsoft 365 and set up your POP email.
  2. Open Outlook (classic) → Go to FileOpen & ExportImport/Export.
  3. Select **Import from

I discovered that the File import/export function of Outlook (new) is no longer present in Windows 11 on new pc.

Outlook classic dropped from Microsoft 365

I'm trying to import a .PST file from several years ago when I had Windows 10 Outlook classic. Any ideas?

As a coincidence, I just did an Outlook migration this week. My method was as follows;
1. I use an IMAP mail service so all my email automatically copied over.
2. I use GyncIt (Fieldston Software - gSyncit - The Ultimate Outlook Synchronizer - Sync Outlook with Google, Toodledo, Evernote, Informant, iCloud, AOL, Yahoo, Synology, Fruux, Memotoo and CalDav/CardDav services.) to syncg my contacts and calendars with my IMAP provider. My install of GyncIt on the new PC synced this
3. This leaves the Task and I have two additional task files in addition to the indigenous Tasks file. I Simply used File> Open & Export> Import/Export> Export to a file> Outlook Data File (*.pst). I selected the three tasks directories, exported each of them to a USB and then used File> Open & Export> Import/Export> to import them.

Easy breezy!

If my email service was neither IMAP nor had contacts and calendar, I question if I could have just exported the entire *.pst from the source computer and imported into the target computer.
