Hi,

I installed Outlook 2010 and configured a few of my accounts (lets call them Email Acc1 and Email Acc2). They all worked fine and downloaded all my emails. Because I didnt like the set up (I wanted Outlook to download all emails from all accounts into one Inbox rather than into seperate one for each account (Email acc1/ Inbox, Email acc2/ Inbox). I decided to delete all set up accounts and set them up again manually.

After I deleted the accounts and all messages that were previously downloaded, old emails are not being downloaded again. Only new emails that werent previously downloaded.

It looks like Outlook 'remembers' that these emails were already downloaded and therefore wants to avoid duplicating them.

I uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled again, trying to get all emails. I manually deleted all *.pst files and all (I thought all) files created in Users profile by Outlook (like files called like my Email accounts names etc).

After reinstalling the program, Outlook is still looking for those files, and because I deleted them, it cant find them and errors occur.

How can I delete ALL files created by Outlook and start the set up again?

Thank you very much.

You need to make a new profile with a unique new name - then outlook will make new data files (or you can use the old data files - select the pst during profile creation).

In outlook 2010, default location for pst files is under My documents, folder is Outlook Files. Some support files will be in %localappdata%\Microsoft\outlook but making a new profile with a new name will use new ones.

Thank you for your answer. I tried that many times, but even though it creates a new profiles it still does not download old emails. it only downloads emails that werent previously downloaded.

How can I clear the 'memory'? where is that information kept?

Thank you.

Hi Amonaria,

I assume that you have ticked the option under the account Internet email settings> More Settings Button> Advanced Tab> Delivery to leave a copy of messages on the server? If not you may have downloaded the mail and inadvertantly deleted them. Can you log in to the email account via web access and see if your old mail is still sitting on the server?

Yes, I keep the copies of all emails on the server (for all accounts). All of them are still there. I also tried selecting them as 'unread' but it does not make any difference. Outlook does not download any of the emails that were downloaded originally, even though I reinstalled the Outlook (actually the whole Office).

Thank you very much in advance for your help.
