outlook refuses to open any attachments ... not related to shadow directory

hi,

I am very puzzled by this problem. outlook ignores any attempt to open or save the attachment.. There are no error messages given.

i have researched the hidden shadow file issue.. where it has saved one file more than 100 times.. this does not appear to be the issue as my shadow directory is empty.

I'm very confused.. i have many many many years of outlook experience... have seen other weird things, but not this one! Anyone have any idea. i have gone into safe mode, deactivated all add ins... and it is the same...

Any kind of attachment, excel, pdf, word.. And ni cant save... There is no message given.. Win7.. Thank you for your response! I tried the reg edit on the keys where outlook saves attachments, there are ni files in that directory.. Tank you
