We are currently experiencing an issue whereby a small number of our users are experiencing Outlook freezing, seemingly at random several times a day.
It can happen at anytime, when composing mail, clicking between folders or even when Outlook is not in use and just sat idle. Symptoms are always the same, Outlook doesn’t respond for a few seconds then goes back to normal. Obviously this is quite frustrating especially when composing a mail.
We run Exchange 2013 and the majority of our users are using Outlook 2010 connected in cached mode, however we have had the issue on Outlook 2013 and in online mode. We have a cross forest 2 way trust between our old and new domains, but the problem affects people logging into either domain (Exchange is in the new domain). Our Exchange environment is running fine, and there is no correlation between the users and the mailbox database they are on/any additional mailboxes they access.
The problem does seem to follow the user, new Outlook/Windows profiles, re-imaging the PC or even proving a brand new PC with only Windows and Office installed haven't resolved it.
We've tried everything here - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2652320 as well as several other fixes, including disabling hardware acceleration and this has had some success but the problem generally re-occurs after a short period of time.
Any ideas/suggestions would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
