Macro to attach last 2 items downloaded

Hi,

I am using outlook via a Office 365 subscription (not sure if that makes it 'outlook 2016' or not) on Win 10.

When I am in the 'reply' window of an email, I want a macro (preferably that runs off a simple button on the toolbar) that will go to a specified folder (my downloads folder) and attach the 2 most recent files in that folder to my reply.

I don't want it to send the message, just grab the attachments.

Can anyone help with this?

The macro at Use a Macro to Attach Files to New Messages has the basics - you;ll need to use a counter to get the two newest.

Are you using reading pane compose? The code for that is a little different from what is used in open messages.

Hi, thank you so much for replying. Yes I'm using reading pane compose for replies as opposed to pop out, full window reply.

this is a tweaked version of the code and works with the reading pane compose - BUT it only adds the newest file. I'm not sure how to get the second newest. If they have similar filenames (that are unique to those files), you can find the newest then get the part of the filename that matches and add all files with that in the filename.

Thank you! I will have a play with this and see if I can tweak it to my requirements. The filenames will be similar for the 2 files each time.

if you can find the newest file, get the fileame then look for files that match, it would work -
this snippet takes first 4 letters from the newest file name and adds all files that match. It's on the page I linked earlier.
