Macro to mark email with a Category

I've been trying to find or write a macro which will mark a selected email, or group of emails, with a category - say the blue category. So far my efforts have failed. If it had the facility to toggle the category on and off, that would be a bonus but is not essential.

I wonder if anyone can kindly help me with this please. Many thanks.

Do you really need a macro? You can select and use the right click menu or the Category button on the ribbon. Select the category to add it, select again to remove.

I have this macro - Macro to Add or Remove a Category - as written, it is for one message but could be changed to selection. (I'll do that next) The advantage over using the categorize button is that the category is pre-selected.

Diane, I actually had a problem getting your macro to work but then had an idea for another solution to my problem. I noticed that you can set a shortcut for each category so set Ctrl+F2 for Blue. Then I created a simple macro using SendKeys as follows:

Sub Blue_Category_Toggle()
Interaction.SendKeys ("^{F2}")
End Sub

I know some people do not like using SendKeys but I have to say this macro works a treat - toggling the blue category for both single emails and selections as well.

And it enables me to have a single blue button to click to operate the macro, which was what I wanted (to save fiddling with the right click menu).
