Recommendations for Outlook Duplicate Email Remover

I use Outlook to manage my GMAIL on my home computer. In trying to resolve a situation where my Outlook 2019 was not functioning, I followed the MS lead and installed Outlook 365 and converted my POP3 to IMAP. I am not exactly sure what happened but I now have thousands of duplicates on both the GMAIL server and on my home computer. My plan is now to remove the duplicates in my Outlook on my home computer, then I assume Outlook will synch with my Gmail account (since I am using IMAP) and remove them there too. Is that right? Once that is done, I intend to convert back to POP3. I am looking for a 3rd party software that will search and remove all the duplicates from Outlook. Any suggestions?

This "converted my POP3 to IMAP" is probably the cause of the duplicates.

Did you try importing the pst file into the IMAP? That should be the only cause.

Re converting back to POP: you will need to use 2 step verification and an app password in any version of Outlook.

Thanks for the list. Do I get the impression you think I should stick with IMAP? I only access gmail from my home and I leave the messages on the GMAIL server so they are backed up and available through the WEB APPP

Well, not necessarily. IMAP won't require 2-step verification. But it is a change in behavior - something for you to get used to. Some clients love it, others hate it and end up back on pop.

It's really your decision... as I told another user, this is a judgment free zone. :) I'll do my best to answer questions either way.

Understood. Thanks again. If you are willing, I would love your opinion on my plan to restore my Gmail/ Outlook and delete all the duplicates on my home machine and on the GMAIL server. (I have an April 2022 backup of my POP3 PST):

1. Restore my GMAIL POP3 Account; Setting- Only download new Emails
2. Import an April 2022 backup of my old POP3 Outlook PST to a new Outlook PST.
3. Delete all Gmails on Gmail Web Server prior to April 2022.
4. Copy remaining emails from April 2022 to today's date to my Outlook.
5. Delete my GMAIL IMAP accounts from my Outlook.

See any fatal flaws?

Is the Gmail.com mail in the inbox? If so, just use the April backup. Copy the April backup to a folder on the hard drive. Remove the IMAP account from outlook (export and calendar and contacts in it that you need to keep) then add the account using manual setup. Select the April backup. It should only download new mail, but if you are worried, archive (remove the Inbox label) from the older mail in gmail.com
