- Outlook.com (as MS Exchange)
This may be well-known, but it perplexed me until I found a very simple solution embedded in the discussions about a slightly different environment for Outlook Calendar than I have.
The link to the suggestion that solved my problem is (shortened URL) Outlook 2013 - you cannot make changes to contents of this read-only folder - on published calendar
My problem: I had a Birthday Calendar inherited from an earlier install of Outlook 2003/2010 (desktop) with birthday entries that I wanted to remove.
Attempting to delete them within my desktop Outlook 2013 installation gives me the error message –
Of course I searched for the text in this error message.
Here, I need to describe my Outlook 2013 desktop account connections, which are synchronized Outlook.com and Hotmail.com only using Exchange ActiveSync - they were until 6-8 weeks ago MAPI (I think). Currently, I am not including other email accounts which may be POP3 or IMAP or MAPI.
The solution was to browse to the suggested bay01.calendar.live.com which helpfully, via Internet Explorer 11) took me to my personal Birthday Calendar that was the problem (actually, it was located at bay04, https://bay04.calendar.live.com/calendar/calendar.aspx ). It may be necessary to log in to your Microsoft Account prior to the link being activated.
By clicking the Calendar entry I wanted to delete, I could edit and save or delete (confirm needed).
Possibly this is described elsewhere on Slipstick in one of the helpful tutorials, more succinctly and accurately - but I hope my description is helpful to someone.
