Outlook 2013 Contacts groups, folders

Outlook 2013, Outlook.com only - and I have a slew of contacts folders under My Contacts, as follows -

The one under Xmas List was the only folder/group that I could create (the properties and hierarchy of these labels confuses me). It's not as bad as it seems, since some folders are empty or contain very few names.

I'm sorry to be obtuse, but this is so much more frustrating than using PST-bound (desktop only), non-synchronized email account(s).

My synchronization type is Exchange ActiveSync. When I try to Copy or Move a Contact sitting in the top Contacts bucket (the one associated with my Outlook.com account) I am prohibited from doing either.

Is this another situation where I must wait for the synchronization upgrade to Office 365 / Exchange ion order to do some clean-up of the situation?
Or, are there workarounds?
 
Something is goofy (Doh!) Those appear to be folders but Outlook.com (old server) doesn't support multiple contact folders. If your account was moved to the new server, you could create multiple folders - but should use Exchange services, not Active Sync.

Are those folders in the outlook.com account or in a pst file in your profile? Go to the folder list- Ctrl+6 - to see where the folders are.
