Is there a hack to setup a Favorites folder for People/Contacts similar to the Favorites folder in email?
Using categories, I have setup a Favorites view, but switching views back and forth requires too many keystrokes and is a cumbersome process.

(I remember older versions of Outlook that allowed definition of radio buttons in the left pane to switch between views :()
 
You want to apply custom views to the folder? The only shortcut would be a macro to apply it. You can put a macro button on the ribbon for each view.
