Best way to sync calendar and contacts between Outlook 365 and Outlook on iPhone

I am running Outlook 365 with mail service by WHC.ca using IMAP. Outlook for iOS on iPhone
All latest versions
My email address is @McCubbin.ca Perhaps this personal domain is an issue We have two addresses we would want to sync

I see three possible ways to have smooth two-way sync (like I had when using an MS Exchange server)
1) iCloud Microsoft instructions make it look very easy, but it does not work for for me. My Contacts from PC appeared on iPhone, but changes do not sync, either way.
2) Using CalDAVsynchroniser I have tried, but cannot get it to work. Neither can the techies at WHC. I get reports like the attached every few hours
3) via OUtlook.com I have not tried that

What is best approach?
Am I creating problems by trying both (1) and (2) ? If so, how to start again?

I have over 20 hours into this, and am fed up, so any help would be much appreciated.

I prefer gsyncit - its not free but works and unlike the iCloud sync addin, it leaves the items in the default folders so Outlook today or the To-Do bar works.

outlook.com is a good free method, but meeting responses may go out from the outlook.com account.

Are you using an app password when you set up the sync utility? That is required to connect with icloud.

I had never heard of an app password. Now I have some idea since I just googled it
I am not using one

Microsoft suggests that I cannot sync contacts and calendars from my mccubbin.ca IMAP account. Refer to URL below

You can't sync calendar and contacts stored on the web using an IMAP account, its email only. If you have some when you log into webmail, they will not sync with imap. You can sync them using gsyncit.



BTW - if you are using outlook.com address, they are turning off basic auth and eliminating app passwords in mid-September. So if you needed one, it would stop working then.
 
Ideally, when you log into the account on a new device, should apply the settings that were used on the account before, by the way, I advise you to buy Microsoft 365, useful for the office thing
