Just today, Outlook 2013 began asking for the username and password for an outlook.com email address. I went onto the web, entered outlook from there and changed the password both there and then in Outlook. But the problem is still persisting.
Is this a problem emenating from Microsoft's end or is there something that I can possible fix from mine end, with your help of course?
(Permit me to edit and add a bit more info. I'm getting this when I click on the send/error receive. Task blahblah@gmail.com - sending reported error (0x800CCC92) your email server rejected your login. Verify your username and password for this account in Account Settings)

And let me add to the mayhem. I removed the @outlook.com email address from Outlook and after restarting it, it keep bringing up the same message, asking for the username and password for this account that I had removed from Outlook. This is beginning to get scary.

Are you using 2 factor authentication? If so, you need to use the app password for all accounts except business Exchange accounts.

Is it asking for an outlook.com account or the gmail account?

Thanks for the reply Diane. I do not use the 2 factor authentication. But anyway, I'm not sure if this was just a glitch with the gmail system on their end or something I did on mine.
I'm still not sure why after I removed the outlook.com account, rebooted the machine & restarting Outlook, it kept on asking for the username & password for this same outlook.com account.
I tried a repair which did zero. Then I noticed I couldn't send an email from my gmail account, so I did a repair on that, restarted Outlook and everything worked flawlessly.
I read somewhere that someone's gmail wasn't working in Outlook for a bit then suddenly it was ok. They figured a glitch on gmail's side of things.
As to what was going on with mine, I've not an idea. What's your thoughts? Why was it asking for an Outlook.com username and password after I removed it from Outlook? Gmail & Outlook are not related are they? Anyway, I'll appreciate your thoughts as to what happened with this.
(I did put the outlook.com address back in after I saw it was asking for the username and password spite the fact I had removed it)

It could be a gmail glitch - like you, i've seen a lot of people say gmail wasn't working - or it could be an office update that repair fixed. Of the users who mentioned their office version, all used 2013/2016, so i'm thinking update.

Not fully removing the account is definitely odd - i've never seen it do that. I have seen it add ost data files to a profile if the ost existed in %localappdata%\microsoft\outlook. Once it does that, you need to either make a new profile (after deleting the ost files) or edit the registry in hopes of removing the ghosts.

Ok, well you for sure can see a lot further than I (an understatement of course) so I'll put it down as an update glitch. As to the outook.com email address asking for the username and password after I deleted it, it's weird. And if it's weird to you, where does that leave the rest of us? :)
So if I happened to make a new Profile (this is where it always gets more than confusing for me) do I have to migrate my email addresses over to that profile or is that done automatically?

if you make a new profile, you need to Add the accounts to it. A new profile is a new profile, nothing in it. Mail will sync from imap, you can reuse a pst file, and everything in outlook.com/exchange will sync down once you add the accounts (and pst files, if using) to the profile.

Let me see if I'm following ... will mail sync from imap automatically (from the old profile into the new) or has that to be done manually? And the pst filees ... one simply imports that, correct? Break it to me gently. :)

it won't "sync" between profiles, you'll need to add the account to the new profile and it will sync down - if the mailbox is large, it will resync everything (depending on the sync slider settings).
