I think he did just that. He assumed since the MS email pgm did not support pop, he could not use it all. he switched to IMAP, so got it working with Outlook.
I think everyone sees the articles about Windows 8 lacking POP3 and naturally assume it applies to every email client you can install on windows 8. They really did a poor job explaining it...
