Outlook and Win8 and Pop3

A friend says he can't get Outlook working on Win8 with Pop3. He says not supported. Is this a known issue?

Don't confuse Windows 8's mail client's lack of POP3 support with Outlook - you can use the desktop clients with POP3.

I think he did just that. He assumed since the MS email pgm did not support pop, he could not use it all. he switched to IMAP, so got it working with Outlook.

I think everyone sees the articles about Windows 8 lacking POP3 and naturally assume it applies to every email client you can install on windows 8. They really did a poor job explaining it...
 
Operator error. just as you suspected, he assumed incorrectly based on the Win8 mail client's lack of pop support.
