Switch ot the Format Text tab. Right click on the style you're using (probably Normal) and choose Modify. Select the New documents based on the template radio button. Click Format button and choose paragraphs. Left indent should be 0. Click Ok, verify it's applying to new documents and click Ok.
Diane, could you please tell me how to ask a question? You have a wealth of information here but it is a little overbearing for a new user
Also, if I want to check from the existing archive of questions, can i ask "how to put right and left indents for all outgoing e-mails and how to make this the default?
As for the left & right margins if you change the margins in a new message then close without sending, it should stick. However, it's not recommended. Margins are measured in from the sides, not measured in from the left. A 2" margin is going to be 2" in from the left and right. If a recipient uses a narrow window, the text will be narrow because the margins take up 4 inches. See Setting Margins when Composing Email for screenshots.
If you want a message limited to 600 wide (like many ads use) you need to use a table. If you use a wide screen, adjust the width of the compose window so it's are at comfortable width.
