Outlook 2016 Outlook not saving Sent Items

I'm using Outlook as the email client for my Gmail account. What I'm noticing is that when I create and send a message it is not saving that message to "Sent Items", is this another IMAP thing? I wind up having to CC to myself any email that I create and send. Is there some basic answer that might help me get my "Sent Items"?
Even more time consuming is going into the actual Gmail box and there is a sent item in there, but of course I'd have to forward this to myself again. Not very efficient or satisfying, any suggestions?

Not sure if this will help, since it should not be necessary, but right click on Gmail in the folder list, select IMAP folders, click Query, then go to the Subscribed tab. This will let you ensure that you are subscribing to the Sent folder. (although now that I think about it, if you were not subscribed, you would not see the Sent folder at all. But still worth the little effort involved to check it)

Hi Vincenzo, thanks for your response. I followed your instructions and found that "Sent Items" were part of the set of Subscribed folders. So I guess that means it is something else. This has really been a learning experience changing from POP to IMAP, and I have quite a way to go with that. Thanks for trying.

I found the problem. It was in the IMAP Account Settings, in particular the "Root Folder Path", in which I'd previously had "Inbox". Following some further research I changed that same setting to "[Gmail]" and voila, all my Gmail boxes (in Outlook) sprang into life, including the "Sent Items" folder. So I'm very happy with that result. Outlook now seems to be mirroring the Gmail service, so I'm really pleased with that. So Thanks for your contributions.
