Hi All,

Currently at work, over 100 emails come into the departments shared mailbox per day and staff work through each email in turn, however this is not most efficient way working, as staff are simply just choosing the easy ones.

I have read on topic

http://www.outlookbanter.com/outlook...ent-users.html

and

VBA code running on Server? Shared mailbox email routing

That it is possible to create a script and then using some VBA to cycle through list of staff giving email to each individual on the list in a looping fashion.

However the above link does not point me in any direction on how to create script / vba to do this.

any help or further links on this type of thing would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

This kind of does the round robin - Mail a message to each person in a range - but you need to write back to the sheet.

I have a word macro that writes to a text file that I think could be used to pick a name from an array.

How many names will be on the list? How often will the list of users need updated?

Sub CreateUserNumber()

Dim enviro As String

enviro = CStr(Environ("USERPROFILE"))

usern = System.PrivateProfileString(enviro & "\user-number.txt", _
"MacroSettings", "usern")

' reset to 1 after last person

If usern = "10" Then
usern = 1

Else
usern = usern + 1

End If

System.PrivateProfileString(enviro & "\user-number.txt", "MacroSettings", _
"usern") = usern

end sub

Morning Diane,

And thanks for your quick reply.

We have between 8-12 staff members working through the mailbox on each day dependent on holidays.

The list of users will be update once per day maybe twice dependent on sickness.

Thanks

Steve

With frequent updates we don't want to put the array in the macro - it needs to be in a file so it can be updated easily. In that case, it may be easier to read a csv or text file.

Diane,

Do you know of any links or information that show how to do this?

i am fairly new to all this and i am trying to learn as much as i can.

Thanks

Steve

I was looking yesterday and couldn't find anything that was remotely close - heck even the excel link I found isn't close, but it may be possible to use it as a basis. I was going to look work on it last night but got side tracked with a project that I need to get finished (but really can't get into working on :( ).

Afternon Diane,

Thanks for looking into this for me.
