Where has the Copilot icon gone in my Outlook desktop client?

I have Office 2021 installed on my desktop PC and I use the Outlook desktop client for emails.

Up to yesterday, my Office account was at Version 2506 and, in Outlook, the Copilot icon appeared in the top right hand corner of the Outlook window. But, yesterday, I did my monthly system updates and, as part of those updates, I upgraded my Office account to Version 2507. Now, when I start Outlook, the Copilot icon has disappeared from the top right hand corner of the window. In fact, I can't find any trace of a mention of Copilot at all within the Outlook desktop client.

Does anyone know what has happened?

I am not seeing any reports of Copilot disappearing in V2507, but that doesn't mean you're not special. Latest post I see on the Microsoft forums is Sept 05 2025

I have the perpetual version of Office 2021 for the PC. It was a one time buy and I don't have any Microsoft subscriptions. So I am not sure of the relevance of Microsoft 365 apps in this context. Every month, I update my Windows 10 system and Office 2021.

One piece of information that might be relevant is that up to and including Version 2505 of Office 2021, the Copilot icon did not appear in the upper right hand corner of the Outlook client window. Then, after updating to V2506, the Copilot icon appeared in the Outlook window. Then, after updating to V2507, it has now disappeared again!

I should add that I don't use Copilot, so it doesn't particularly concern me whether the Copilot icon is present or not. I am just wondering what Microsoft is playing at.
 
Sorry. But I am stumped. As far as I can tell, standalone Office 2021 (any version) should never have offered any version or variation of Copilot without a qualifying MS 365 Subscription.

There were some Copilot fixes for Office Version 2506 but they should not have applied to you.
