I could swear that you used to be able to create a button for a toolbar and add a hyperlink (say to slipstick.com) in earlier versions of OL (2003 and before). I've looked high and low and can't figure out how to create such a thing in 2010.
You are correct - outlook 2003 and 2007 supported hyperlinks on toolbar buttons but 2010 does not. You can add the shortcuts to the Shortcut navigation pane. See use button to open a template for the steps to avoid the annoying security dialog. Although I have never tried (before the next hour ) to write a macro to open web sites, it should be possible using a version of the macro on that page.
