Starting Outlook 2K3 without e-mail support

Hi,

I have an unusual requirement in that I want to start Outlook basically as an .msg viewer, with no e-mail support, to allow users to view .msg format messages attached to records in a database. I am unable to consider the few commercial .msg viewers available due to the requirements of this particular system.

So far I have generated a .prf with a .pst configured and have added the registry key ImportPRF under hkcu\software\microsoft\office\11.0\outlook\setup to start Outlook with that profile. I have also deleted the First-Run key from the same location as I understand the ImportPRF will not be used if this key already exists. This all works fine, except that Outlook still prompts to set up an e-mail account. If you go through the dialogue you can choose to start Outlook with no e-mail support, which is exactly what I want. Is there some undocumented switch or reg key which will automate this 'disabling' of e-mail support?

Because of the 'do you want to use outlook without a mail account' checkbox, it looks like there may be something. I can't tell what the key might be as a new profile creates a load of new keys.

Are you using the custom install wizard?

Thanks for your response. I did use the CIW and went to page 17/24 to customise the profile. I chose to create a new profile, did not configure an Exchange Server Connection and on the next page under 'additional customisation' simply selected the PST (large) service. I then exported the .prf and used that in the reg key ImportPRF as described.

Just realised that my last reply made it seem that the problem was solved. It's not :) I was simply detailing what I'd done so far. The CIW-generated profile still doesn't do what I want.

Any suggestions at this point most gratefully received.
