Outlook 2007 BCM will not recognize data files

Situation: I just converted from XP Pro to Win7 Pro (format HD and clean

install). Before installing I copied the Business Contact Manager and

subfolders (MSSmallBusiness.ldf, MSSmallBusiness.mdf)to an external hard

drive.

I copied those files back to

c:\users\<myname>\AppData\Loca\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager.

But Outlook BCM does not recognize these files and I can't use them.

When I try to change the BCM data file using Account Settings|Data

Files|Settings these files do not show up as available on my computer

when I Select an Existing Database.

When I installed Office Prof. Plus 2007 BCM under Win7 I did get an

error message that SQL Server 2005 had compatibility problems with Win7.

Is the problem related to this? Would it help if I upgraded to SQL

Server 2008?

How can I solve this? This BCM database is mission-critical for my business.

By serendipity I found a solution. I copied the data files into the

correct folder as described above, then installed Office Pro 2007. Upon

starting Outlook asked me to select the existing database and voila, it

loaded.

I can't imagine why MS hasn't posted this problem on the Solutions

website as I've seen many other people with similar problems.
