Distribution List - Export/Import

Hi.

I'm having a lot of trouble exporting Contacts from one account and importing to another. Individual contacts import correctly, but the Distribution Lists import as empty lists.

I've tried a couple things...
1. I've created a new PST and copied the Contacts into the new PST. Then opened the PST in the new account and tried copying the Contacts from the PST into the Contacts folder in the new account.

2. Export to PST from the old account, then import PST to new account.

Here's the interesting thing...
In both cases, if I open (not import) the PST in the old account and click on a DL, it is populated.

If I open (not import) the same PST in the new account and click on a DL, it's empty. It's the same PST file being opened... why would it show differently depending on where it's being opened?!
Anyway, does anyone know how I can do a proper export/import of contacts that will include EVERYTHING? I need to do this company-wide, and I refuse to export each DL to text file employee by employee.

There has to be a better way.

Who are the members of the dl - contacts in the same folder as the dl? When a dl is populated with contacts and you move the dl without moving the contacts (or copy the dl) the link is broken and the contacts are removed from the dl.




In the case of export then open the pst on the computer where the contacts are, it works becasue the contacts are right where it expects to find them.




I recommend using the Save as for Forward in Internet format to create a text list of names - then use them to recreate the dl on the new computer. Copy and paste the rows of names /addresses into the Members field - you can paste the entire list (less the 4 non-address lines at the top) at once.

Thanks Larry.

The entire contact list is being exported - individual records as well as DLs. Maybe I need to import all the contacts before the DLs? If that's so, I can't figure out how to sort or filter the list of contacts from the DL so that I can import one before the other. Thoughts?
