My first post
I have upgraded to Win 7 Professional and wanted to install my Outlook 2000, I know its ancient but it worked fine on my old XP system and I am lacking in enough funds to by the new version. I am not a student so that route is not an option!
I attempted to Install Outlook in Windows 7 but this only resulted in the loss of the WAB.dll file and I was not able to import my emails etc so after some useless attempts gave up and removed the program. I am wondering if this part installation is causing my problems now or not?
Okay, I have, after much messing around as above, installed XP MODE as a virtual PC on my Win 7 system, this then did allow me to install Outlook 2000 and I was able to import my emails and address book, my accounts as .iaf files and all seemed fine.
The problem is that Outlook will not remember my passwords (3 accounts) so these have to be entered everytime I send or receive.
I found a Microsoft fix which involved running regedit32 and deleting a sub key of 'Protected Storage System Provider' I could only find regedit (without the 32 suffix) but still found the key and sub folder which I deleted after copying the file so I could put it back.
This has made no difference as I still need to enter my passwords each time, I seem to be so close to finishing that it is really frustrating. I hope someone here is able to point me in the right direction to correct this problem.
Happy Christmas one and all.
