Hi Gurus,

In our regular business activity we get an email calender '.vcs' attachment , using it we set up our meetings or handle training activities from SAP backend.

Recently we rolled up from Microsoft Outlook 2003 to Microsoft Outlook 2007. None of our vCalendar attachments work since we have moved to Outlook 2007. When we try to open the .VCS attachment, we receive an error message stating that "message.vcs is not a valid Internet calendar file".

we even tried using .ICS attachment but same error pops up !

Any work around !!

Request to help , it would be greatly appreciated !!

Does the file open when you drag to a time period on the calendar?

Outlook 2003 accepts DTSTART/DTEND without a time zone specification. Outlook 2007 (and later) requires a time zone.

Two options: Configure the application to convert the date/time to UTC and then set the DTSTART/DTEND to a format of YYYYMMDDTHHMMSSz (note the 'z' appended at the end which tells Outlook that the time zone is UTC).

Or define a time zone explicitly and include that in the file.

Please find code in the attachment

Firstly, i configure(code) the calender in SAP back end

Secondly, I send this calender as an Email '.VCS' attachment .

Later, When i receive the mail i try to open the calender '.VCS' attachment by double clicking the attachment.

Later,I ends with the error popup message saying 'the file "Course Repectful Workplace.VCS" is not a valid Internet Calender file."(Screenshots in attachments)

As directed, i tried changing the time DTSTART/DTEND to a format of YYYYMMDDTHHMMSSz ie.,from DTSTART:20110815T000100 to DTSTART:20110815000100z & from DTEND:20111122T235900 to DTEND:20111122235900z

and tried save the file in .vcs format and used the file but ends with the same error popup message.

Please help me out with a solution, as its effecting business activity.

Can you post the vcs code in a text file?

If you drag it from the message to the calendar, does work? That is usually the way to confirm its the result of the DTStart and DTEnd time format.

Because dragging also results in the error, its not the date format.

It works here when i double click on the ics on my hard drive... after i edited it.

test-ics.jpg

I removed the extra spaces in the code - both between the lines and at the end of the line. If you do a select all on the text file, you'll see the text is heavily padded with spaces. Remove all the extra spaces and it works perfectly.
