Unable to move message

In the new Outlook, I often get a dialog box "The operation cannot be performed because the message has been changed." when I try to move an email message from one folder to another (e.g. from IMAP Inbox to a local folder in another .pst).
Is there any way to solve this? Usually it "wears off" in a few minutes, but it's quite annoying, as it breaks the usual pattern of working with emails.

no proper solution - but switching to a new message then coming back to it usually allows it to work correctly.

I found this thread the other day (switching to a new message didn't always do the trick). It actually helped to uncheck the setting under Conversation Cleanup at that time. In another occasion later on, switching to a new message worked.
I guess it's another thing on the pile of "one step forward, two back" items with newer versions of Office/Outlook...

If conversation cleanup helped, it was a fluke since you aren't using conversation cleanup. Someone nce osaid "try this" and the other person said it worked then others picked it up as "the solution". It never worked for me - Microsoft says it will not fix this. On the other hand, it doesn't hurt to leave it disabled.,

The purpose of the settings is if you reply and remove some of the quoted text, the previous messages won't be deleted. Conversation cleanup removes redundant messages - in most cases, it would delete all messages in a thread except the last one, because the last one quotes every previous message in full.

Conversation cleanup is not a duplicate remover, although it may delete some duplicates, depending on how / why the message is duplicated.
