I'm not quite sure if there is a way to do this.

I have a Google Apps Email account. I successfully set this up in Outlook 2010. I have a nickname/alias for my primary Google Apps email account. I added this in Google Email settings for "Send Mail As" then configured it in Outlook 2010 and assigned it to the same .pst for the primary account.

I am able to successfully send/recieve on both addresses. The issue that I'm running into is, when I receive an email to my alias address and click reply, the "From" field auto fills my primary address not my alias address (which is where the email was sent to). Is there a way to change this so that I don't have to manually select the reply from address in the drop down field. Can this be done with a rule?

Thanks

You can use a macro to reply from the account the message was sent to. Reply using the address a message was sent to - Slipstick Systems

Hi Diane,

Thanks very much for posting that but it didn't seem to work for me. Maybe I created the macro wrong as I'v never created a Macro before. Using Outlook 2010 I did the following:

Clicked Developer Tab -> Clicked Visual Basic -> In the Projects Window there is a Project1 by default -> Double Clicked Project1 -> There was an item there called "ThisOutlookSession" and I right clicked that and went "Insert Procedure" -> named the Macro "AccountSelection" -> copy and pasted the code from the site you linked and saved.

The Project1 name changed to Project1 (VbaProject.OTM) and if I double click the ThisOutlookSession it now opens with the code you linked.

When I receive emails and go to reply it doesn't automatically select the correct address. Did I do something wrong in this setup?

I did change the 2 lines in the code for strRecip from alias@domain1.com that you have listed to my email in the account list.

Thanks for posting your macro.

You missed one step - possibly two (although Outlook should have warned on Macro security when you opened VBA editor.)

You need macro security set to low for testing, can use selfcert to sign it when done testing. Developer tab, macro security to check the setting.

You need a toolbar button or select the macro from Developer tab > Macros when you want to reply. File, Options, customize ribbon, select Macros in the Look in menu on the left, create a new group in in the Home ribbon, place it next to the Reply button and add the macro to it. Use Rename to add an icon and make the name prettier.

Hi, I have Outlook 2013, will this Macro work with this version? It dosnt seem to be.

Please help.

Thanks :)

it should, i'm pretty sure i tested it in 2013. Do you have macro security set to low?
