Outlook to Onenote link stopped working

i have been using onenote as a substitute for the dysfunctional journal in outlook, until yesterday, when the "Linked contacts notes" button failed. gives the following: "The OneNote add-in cannot connect to OneNote. Make sure that OneNote add-ins are enabled in the Add-Ins category of the OneNote applications options. If problem persists contact your system

administrator. It is possible that add-ins are disabled by group policy."

Sending items from onenote to outlook as tasks does work.

i tried the usual repair of office, and checked that the add-in is enabled in outlook. can't find anything with web search that helps.

any ideas?
 
really? i hoped an update would fix it, but the latest ms updates, which i installed today didn't fix it. does this mean give up on onenote? evernote?

perhaps when i have time uninstalling the onenote/outlook addin and reinstalling may fix it. presuming that it is uninstallable.
 
good luck . perhaps they may have some advice for my situation, outlook>onenote.

all of the posts that i have seen about either have no replies, or suggestion to check addin turned on, try repair, and then when told that this doesn't work, no reply.
 
Diane, have found a fix for the IE to onenote problem? i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling onenote and outlook and still have the issue. i am wondering if there is a service or reg entry affecting this.
