My company is migrating to Exchange 2010 sp3 from Exchange 2007, so that our clients can utilize the email archiving functionality. I'm trying to find out if I can just upgrade Outlook from 2010 to 2010 Pro Plus wihtout having to upgrade all of Office. My consultant has never done it that way, and isn't sure it will work. Does anyone out there know? Can I just upgrade Outlook to Pro Plus and leave the rest of office Standard?

I thought "Pro Plus" described the Office Suite itself. Usually means it has Access and other major apps included in suite. As far as I know, there is only one version of Outlook 2010.

As for your other question ... for various reasons, it's usually better if all your Microsoft Office applications are from the same year and with only one suite or set installed.

Hi Vespinosa,

did you ever solve this? I don't want to uninstall/reinstall Outlook on all clients. Is there a was to just 'make' outlook 2010 Standard to the Pro-Version. Of course we have the licenses.

Maybe with implementing a new lic-key to the already installed outlook standard. May tweak a reg setting?

Regards

Michael

I'm pretty sure you'll need to re-install office using the pro install file - just changing the key won't enable the missing bits. But you can try changing the key - see if it tells you that the key doesn't match the media. The only reason to upgrade from standard to pro is to get the additional software and bits like IRM support. If you don't need the extra features, there is no reason why you can't stick with standard.
