Hello,

In Outlook 2010 (PC), when you forward a calendar invite to someone else, Outlook puts the sender as you "on behalf of" the meeting organiser.

But if you do the same in Outlook 2011 (Mac), it drops the "on behalf of" tag and it just puts the meeting organiser as sender... so it looks like you can send messages as the sender!

Anyone know how to make Outlook 2011 behave like Outlook 2010 please? In both cases we're using an Exchange 2010 server. I can reproduce the issue in different mailboxes.

Thanks,

- Alan.

Re: Outlook 2011 forwards calendar invites using "send as" not "on behalf of"

Hmmm. I'm not seeing that behavior, the meetings I forward say 'me on behalf of organizer'. I'm using Exchange 2013 but I don't think it matters (I'll test it in 2010 too). Exchange has some meeting configuration options but I don't recall any that control this, especially that would affect only mac.

Are you viewing the forward in Outlook?

Re: Outlook 2011 forwards calendar invites using "send as" not "on behalf of"

Hi Diane,

Let me give the exact scenario to reproduce the problem here.

USER A, USER B and USER C have mailboxes on the same Exchange 2010 server and have NOT given any delegate permissions to anyone.

Outlook 2010: USER A sends a calendar invite to USER B.

Outlook 2010: USER B opens the invite, clicks on Respond - Forward in the ribbon and sends it to USER C.

Outlook 2011: USER C opens the forwarded invite and sees the text below. The problem is that in Outlook 2011, the text shows "From: USER A <usera@example.net>" while on Outlook 2010, they see "From: USER C on behalf of USER A".

So USER B can send as USER A when the recipient is using Outlook 2011.

Thanks,

- Alan.

Oh, ok. I was forwarding from Outlook 2011 and looking at it in Outlook 2013. I'll forward to the account that uses Outlook 2011 - if i can repro i'll ask the mac product group about it.

Thanks, when you get time I'd appreciate to know what you found either way. I've a VIP user that is extremely annoyed ...
