I have several friends who have "upgraded" if that is the term to

windows 7 and they really rate it.

Would I regain my BCM functionality if I went and installed W7? Anyone know

or care to hazzard a guess?

"regain my BCM functionality" might be construed that BCM is not currently

working

Win7 is currentlty a release candidate, when the final retail version is

released for sale it will probably require a clean installation, therefore

requiring you to install all apps again

Hi DL

You are 100% on the button, my BCM is not working due to the update SP2 - I

am suffering the "not enough memory" syndrome so have had to remove BCM as I

could not remove the SP2 update.

As I said - I have several friends using win7 and they say it is a fantastic

upgrade from vista - BUT they have not used it in conjunction with outlook

2007 with BCM.

I heard other Outlook users, who don't use BCM, also running into the

out of memory message with SP2.

I also read a blog were they got rid of that message by removing some

other add-in.

Also, regarding win7, I heard Sql requires a new SP to work properly

with win7, but I didn't run into any issues when I tried it.

Thanks, would love to know the name of the addin removed that resolved this.

I loaded the release of updates this week including an outlook update -

re-tried bcm again and still no joy.

Dave,

I too have been experiencing "Out of Memory" (OOM) errors with Outlook 2007

BCM. Per your posting, unfortunately Windows 7 does not fix the problem.

Let me elaborate...

Originally installed on Windows XP with 2GB RAM, I began experiencing the

OOM errors shortly after Office SP2 was applied. Not making the connection

with SP2 however, I instead added more memory (4 GB RAM total) - to no avail.

As a Microsoft Partner having access to all of the software, I then thought

I would give Vista-32 a try - again to no avail. Adding an additional 4GB

RAM (8 GB RAM total), I now tried Vista-64 - same problem. Lastly, I

installed Windows 7 RC (64-bit) which is where I am today. The good news is

that Win7 seems to be a big improvement over Vista (much faster and slightly

more refined). The bad news is that I still have the OOM problem...

In addition to the above changes, I have also tried the following (to no

avail, either singularly or in total):

- Removed all non-BCM addins

- Flattened-out my mail store folder structure as much as possible

- Pruned my mail stores down to only two running concurrently (primary is

server-based and ~235MB; the other is a PST-based archive ~945MB)

What I have learned:

- If I run BCM with either my primary store by itself or my archive store by

itself - everything works. The instant I try running both simultaneously,

the OOM errors appear.

- The quantity and depth of Outlook folder structures appears to be at the

heart of the OOM problem - at least for me. As a test, I created two test

mail stores (one server-based, one PST-based) and into each, I imported all

my respective mail but with the folders completely removed (I instead relied

on tags/categories to search for mail). With this approach, voila! - the OOM

problem went away! Unfortunately, I'm not sure that I can live with a

completely folderless approach as my engineering-reinforced, OCD-like nature

mandates that there being some level of rudimentary navigational structure to

my mail!

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Lloyd C.

Hi Lloyd

Real shame, it appears you tried everything.

I have Outlook stable right now - but can't install OBM - or I will get OOM

message.

I am disappointed win 7 didn't solve it.

I am now investigating a mac through a friend of mine. I believe he can help

me with a database that helps me maintain my mail, contacts and docs -

basically crm - so I don't have to put up with OBM tagged onto Outlook like a

mold growth.

Thanks Lloyd.
