Email disappearing and reappearing

Morning all,

I have a couple users who are reporting their emails keep disappearing and reappearing in their mailbox. It seems very difficult to troubleshoot since by the time we get up there, there is either no emails or they have all returned.

I have screenshots from a user that this happened to and I can see that they are in their inbox, and at the bottom of the screen it says "Items: 131 Unread: 28" but the windows just says "There are no items to show in this view."

I feel like i'm missing something really obvious!!

Outlook 2010, Windows 7, Exchange 2010. So far this has only been reported by 3 users, 1 of which has not mentioned it since.

The most common cause is a filter set. If that is not the cause for your users, right click on the folder, choose Properties, then Clear offline folder. If the problem continues, delete the ost and let outlook rebuild it.

I did attempt this, but we do not use cached exchange mode so there was no option to Clear Offline file and the user did not have a OST file.

Another screenshot sent. He has arranged them by From, and in this view it's not possible to Reset View as it is greyed out.

Also, this has happened on multiple machines, in mulitple domains. For the person worse off, we have recreated a mail profile and the issue continued.

We are also getting reports of certain emails showing, for example people with names M-Z...
 
I ran "outlook.exe /cleanviews" on this user, but this did not resolve the problem.

After his views were reset, his viewing pain was active and he said there is a delay in viewing his emails?
 
Yes, they don't seem to have a problem accessing the emails in OWA, but that may be because they don't use it for long enough.
