Email address auto-completes work fine on laptop, but no longer on desktop

I use Outlook, Office 365, on both a desktop and laptop, with one OST file and 4 PST files. To switch from one system to the other, I just copy over the PST files. Works no problem. Both systrems are running Win 10 Pro 2H22, all patched up.

However, starting about a month ago, ONLY ON THE DESKTOP, the email autocomplete feature has not worked as usual. The "usual way" is that I type one or two characters of the email address, and then the autocomplete works immediately. The destination email address display includes the circle with the user's initials in the circle. The laptop continues to do email autocompletes in the "usual way."

On the desktop, sometimes the address is autocompleted, but only after a noticeable delay. Other times, I'm forced to search in the CONTACTS list for my target email address.

FYI. Contacts, Calendars, Tasks, etc, are all stored in one of the PST files. I have delete the OST file and the roaming cache on the desktop. When I restarted Outlook, the OST Inbox reconstituted itself, as expected, but the autocomplete problem has persisted. I tried searches, but I could not come up with any web pages that addressed this problem.

Has anyone seen this problem before? How did you fix it?

You deleted the contents of roaming cache folder? The autocomplete list is stored there - name format is
Stream_Autocomplete_0_90E6EAD0BC9DBD46A28AF7895A5CBA04.dat

You can copy the autocomplete list from the other computer, rename the current one with -old on the end then rename the copy to the original name of the new one.

Outlook needs to be closed when you do the renaming.

You are an amazing font of knowledge about all things Outlook.

I just looked at my roaming cache folder on the desktop install of Outlook. There is no Stream_Autocomplete file.

Here are the files in the roaming cache:

There is a Stream_Autocomplete matching your suggested filename on my laptop install. So I copied it over to my desktop install roaming cache folder. After closing desktop Outlook, I copied that file into the proper folder. Then I restarted Outlook.

Address autocomplete seems to work faster, but I'm still getting lots of popup windows to search the Contacts folder. Also, on my laptop Outlook, if I start a new email and then click in the TO field, I get a popup window with the names of recent email recipients. I don't get that popup window on my desktop Outlook. I used to, until this issue started.

That laptop Outlook recipient popup window also includes circles with the initials of each recepient. On desktop Outlook, I do not get this window.

I have no idea what to do next? Is there some "nuclear option:" which will take a lot of effort, but it guaranteed to remedy this problem completely?
 
I was able to copy the Stream_Autocomplete file from my laptop Outlook, so autocomplete works faster now. However, I still don't have this feature (quoting from my previous post) unless I already sent a message to someone after I started Outlook.
