Assume:
- I'm in MS Word (Office 2010 - 64 bit), use the option to send as an attachment (either the icon or or Save & Send)
- an email is created, with the Doc attached.
- now type a message in the Message field, and click Send.
The email is sent, with the attachment, but the message is stripped out.
(embarrassing when nobody understands why you're sending them docs)
Caveats before someone asks:
1 - its 100% reproducible on any instance of Office 2010 I've tried.
2 - I have all the latest updates - makes no difference
3 - this used to work in previous versions of Outlook
4 - Outlook is not in Safe Mode.
5 - I have no special Add-ins etc in Outlook, do not use custom code. Its plain Jane, right out of the box.
6 - happens at the office with an Exchange server, same issue at home with a POP account.
7 - Have only tried this on Win 7,
(I won't be upgrading to Win 8 if you pay me - not interested in learning yet another new GUI solution to the same old problems, while the problems haven't been fixed)
I.e. I'm convinced this is an Office bug.
The only work around is to Save the email. Close the Doc. From the Outlook Drafts folder, open the email, type the message and send.
Needless to say, not a great workflow.
Any help is appreciated: updates, Add-ins etc. Thanks
