Should public contacts folder appear in "People" nav pane?

Before my recent performance problem caused by adding some hierarchal public email folders to public favorites, i used to only have a non shared public contacts folder as a favorite and as an address book.

it definitely would appear as an "other contact" when I opened the People navigation pane.

After I deleted my public folder favorites, and then added a new public contacts favorite, I went to the People nav pane. The old public contact name showed there until i clicked on it. Then it disappeared.

The new one will not appear there no matter what i try, rebooting etc.

MS tech says he tried same but public contacts folders are never supposed to show on the People nav pane.
 
Any contacts folder in Public Folders favorites should be in the People / contacts pane. Any other contacts folders in the public folders will not be in the people pane. Right click on the folder in PF Favroites - is there an option to add it to the people pane? (Mail folders can be added to Favorites.) If not, you may need to reset the navigation pane - it'll wipe out Customized favorites too though.

Open outlook with the /resetnavpane switch:
Close Outlook. Press Windows key + R, type

outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Then press Enter (or OK button) to restart Outlook.
Note: Make sure there is a space between the words.
