any ways to create shortcuts to a public mail folder

I have a bunch of public email folders (not mail enabled) with several levels of subfolders. I often have to click 6 times to get to a subfolder.

Any work arounds the inability to add multilevel public folders to shortcuts? One can add a single level, but nut an upper level folder that one can drill down into.

I thought I had figured it out via public favorites, but somehow added copies of the whole folder hierarchy. Synch went crazy trying to keep that synched with the real online public folder. Twenty minutes every time I'd open Outlook.
 
You would need to use public folder favorites as you can't add multilevel folders to the favorites list. Have you tried using the Shortcuts pane for the folders? I'm not sure it will save you many clicks, but it won't cache the folders either.

Another possibility is a macro to open the folder. See http://www.slipstick.com/developer/code-samples/shortcut-open-outlook-folders/ for the code sample.

Yes, i sometimes set up a shortcut to a public subfolder that I'm accessing often, but much of the time I feel like like running up and down a staircase to get to what I need.

1. Would the macro approach allow me to get to an upper level public folder that I could then click down into? or would it essentially be a shortcut on a tool bar?

2. is there a way to set the default view of public folders to be a fully expanded tree? Scrolling might be faster than clicking.
 
1. It jumps you to the folder in the navigation pane - so going to the parent folder (or one of the siblings) will bring all of the subfolders one step closer.

2. No. There is a macro that will expand accounts - i don't know if it will work with public folders but its worth a try - http://www.vboffice.net/en/developers/expand-all-folders

if that macro works with public folders, change this line:
Set CurrF = Application.ActiveExplorer.CurrentFolder
to point to the parent folder and it should open all of the folders.
 
in Office 365 Outlook 2016, if I make my public contacts folder a favorite. Make that favorite an address book. It does show now in People.
