Disappearing emails

Outlook version
Outlook 2010 32 bit
Email Account
IMAP
When emails arrive in my Outlook inbox, if I click on them immediately, they disappear completely from all files. After the header icon goes away, they always show up permanently. Why are they disappearing, and how can I stop this?
