2013: Task Views keep disappearing

Hi all. I've done my due-diligence and searched for this issue in the existing threads, and don't see one that closely matches what I'm looking for... so, here goes.

I like to create several custom views in Outlook Tasks. When I upgraded to Outlook 2013 from 2010, all my custom views have disappeared. Gone. Can't find them anywhere. It took me days to set these views up to my liking and now they're completely gone.

Even worse: When I try to recreate them, I get an error message saying that a view by that name already exists! *headdesk* *headdesk* *headdesk*

So where on Earth did my views disappear to? How do I retrieve them? And how do I keep this from happening in future?

Dang Enter. :)

If you don't see them you could restart Outlook with the /cleanviews switch - this will wipe them out completely and you can start over. However, unless the Exchange ost file is huge, I'd delete it and let outlook rebuild it. This could bring the views back so you won't need to recreate them.
 
I actually did recreate the views, and they seemed to stick around this time. I wonder if some enterprising soul has written some VBscript to export and import views in the OST, as there seems to be no way to do this naively, and they seem fairly fragile...

I'm not aware of anyway to save or backup views, short of copying them to a folder for 'this folder only', then repeating the process to restore them, for 'all folders'. A macro can't export them (Outlook can't export them either.)
