I have imported a list from Excel, just firstname, lastname and phonenumber.
This into a separate .pst
This list merely serves to be imported to my phone: the phonebook of my phone 'reads' the contacts from this separate .pst file.

Okay, that's fine so far.

What I have been doing until now is to create a new .pst from scratch each time when I wish to update the phonebook of my phone, importing from updated Excelsheet, etc. Usually quite a lot of work.

So I now would like to just directly add a new account into this 'account' .pst (no Excel bla bla)

However, after adding one, a grey bar is added with something like 'Company: (none): 1 item(s)

The entry is identical to all the others. Dragging it to the list above won't work.

How come?
How to avoid this?

Thanks!

It's a common occurrence when you import - to fix it, add a company name to one in the 'bad' group then drag all to that group before dragging them to the 'good' group. If you are only keeping the new set of contacts, you could select all and delete before importing.

Instructions to fix are here: Contacts are Grouping in Two Groups of (none)

Hi Diane, thanks a lot, succeeded in doing it. BTW: is there no way to avoid this?
Thanks again.

no, I'm not aware of a way to avoid it, short of adding a company name (could be a space). If your import doesn't have the company field, importing it as a blank field might work (i haven't tested it), or use a fake company name to the import to save a step if it fails -you'll just need to drag from the fake company to the none group.

Many thanks Diane, for taking the time to test it.
Truly appreciate it.
