Creating or opening an iCloud calendar entry gives the error "Microsoft Forms – to help prevent malicious code from running one or more objects in this form were not loaded. For more information contact your administrator." This began when PC was running Windows 10 and continued in Windows 11. I have removed and reinstalled the iCloud app, done a quick Repair on Microsoft 365, and have created a new Outlook profile. Outlook has a new ribbon section called Show that has two buttons, Appointment and iCloud. I think it's trying to use the iCloud one, but if I click the Appointment one, I can proceed with adding or changing an appointment. I've never run into this on the many other PCs I have set up to have iCloud integrated into Outlook. Any thoughts would really be appreciated!

That is definitely a new one for me too, at least for iCloud contacts.

Try the registry key here -

I'm so grateful for your reply - thanks! I'll get back onto that machine tomorrow and will report back.

We have no custom forms in our environment, and both Outlook and Windows are 64 bit. I tried adding the DisableCustomFormItemScript registry key with no luck. I also turned off all of Outlook's COM Add-ins except for iCloud, with no luck. The user insists that the appointment form looks different to him since this error started appearing, but I'm not aware of iCloud using a different format for creating a calendar entry. The biggest mystery to me is the new "Show" section in the Appointment ribbon, as shown in the attached photo (please pardon the quality). I have other computers working with Outlook and iCloud that don't have that section at all. Thank you for any thoughts!

It sounds like the “Show” section you’re seeing is tied to the iCloud add-in using a custom form layout. If it’s only appearing on this one machine, it might be pulling an outdated or corrupted form definition from the iCloud data store. You could try clearing the Outlook forms cache (File → Options → Advanced → Custom Forms → Manage Forms → Clear Cache) and then restarting Outlook to see if it forces the default form to load.

Thanks so much for this reply, and I will check that out and reply back!

I have the exact same problem with Outlook with iCloud calendar.
My laptop is new with Windows 11 install.
Adding the 64 bit registry key & clearing the forms cache did not help.
I have a 2nd new Win 11 laptop, different brand, with the same install process (as far as I know) which doesn't have this issue.
Any other thoughts?

I've found more on this.
I have AddinTools Classic Menu for Outlook as an add-in.
It appears to cause this error when the AddinTools Menus tab is used (seems to be the default) to open an existing or trying to create a new appointment.
If I select the Event tab, and one can add or access an existing appointment.

Now all I need to do is to figure out what forms type these may be to apply the appropriate registry mod.
Odd that the other laptop, which also has AddinTools Classic Menu for Outlook installed is not experiencing this.

Found the resolution:
from here: Custom form script is now disabled by default - Microsoft Support

NOTE: In some cases forms in secondary mailboxes and Public folders still don't work after the registry key settings. To fix this, enable scripts in the Trust Center:

  1. Click File > Options. Then select Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Email Security.
  2. Under the Script in Folders section, click the checkbox for Allow script in shared folders and Allow script in Public folders and click OK and OK again to close out the windows.

Allowing the 2 Trusts works for me.

Well, it didn't really. It seemed to work for a bit but doesn't now.
Back to the drawing board.

I disabled all add-ins except for iCloud - and I still get the error.
Not being caused by AddinTools after all.
I can still get around it by selecting Appointment after selecting OK on the Forms pop-up.
Most annoying....

I have turned on Outlook logging, but I can't find any tool to read the .etl file.
Event Viewer can't - file format is not supported by this version of Windows
MMA no longer exists.
Anyone know how to read an Outlook 365 .etl file?

Thanks for these replies. I continue to have the problems despite checking the add-ins and scripting ideas. I have created a set of troubleshooting logs and will see if I can make anything of them.

I was so happy to see this issue described in today's Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter from Slipstick! However, the solution is to change an ActiveX setting to a value that literally says, "not recommended; potentially dangerous controls can run." How can I convince the user who has this problem that such a change is not only OK but is the solution to the problem?

We tried the fix from the August 14 Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter, despite security concerns. It FIXED the problem of the malicious code error but introduced other strange behavior we're not going to track down. We are abandoning iCloud/Outlook sync altogether and are moving the user's calendar and contact data to an Exchange account that can sync without relying on outside, unpredictable add-ons. I wonder if Apple will abandon the iCloud app for Windows altogether now that the New Outlook doesn't require it? Thank you ALL for your thoughts in this thread!
