I would like to create a search folder to find all the mail to/from a domain, but exclude a specific email address.
One of the suggestions for a new folder "Mail from and to specific people" does a great job of finding all of the emails between me and that domain, but doesn't allow me to exclude any email addresses (or criteria), so the custom search route may be the only option.
Unfortunately, I have had limited success implementing the same functionality as the "Mail from and to specific people" option...
The best I could come up with is to enter @domain in the "Search for the word(s)" field and choose In "Frequently-used text fields," but that also returns emails sent around my office that have some reference to the domain / that were forwarded.
Attempting the Advanced tab, I cannot find a field that searches the "From" and "To" fields at the same time, and layering on rules requires that all of the criteria be met.
Another drawback of search folders that I noticed is that Outlook understands the recipient's name and email address separately. When someone is entered into my address book as Adam Smith [adam.smith@gmail.com], all of the emails in the outbox only contain his name and the search folders don't pick them up when I search for the domain @gmail.com. That makes creating search folders particularly difficult because I have to look out for every single person I've corresponded with at that domain. Any workaround for this to force Outlook to search in the email address field for the domain?
Can someone give me some tips? Thank you
