Suddenly I am unable to expand a contact group after I add it to the Outlook To: box. It doesn't even show the + sign to expand it.

Using Outlook 2010 32 bits, Windows 7 SP1

What to do to get plus sign back?

Are you sure its a contact group? If it comes as you begin typing it's name, delete that entry from the autocomplete list and retype it, allowing it to resolve from the address book. Does it expand now?
 
Yes I am absolutely sure that I am dealing with a contact group.

I have emptied the Auto-Complete list and unchecked the feature "Use auto-complete list...." Still no plus sign.

When I right click on the contact group name in the To: field the first item in the drop down menu "expand contact group" is grayed out.

Hello Diane,

Did not hear from you since last week and I fear that you are on holidays. Obviously this is not a vital problem, just a nuisance and can live with till you get around to deal with it.

Yes I did make several new contacts groups and the same thing happened.

In the beginnimg of this I saved the message in OUTBOX and reopened with the group expanded. Than I was able to make changes to the names.

Now I have discovered that when I single click on the group name several times it will open and I can edit. Never with the first click though.

I have never seen that before William. I wonder if the address book service is corrupt? If it is, the only way to fix it is by making a new profile or deleting all accounts from the current profile and adding the accounts back.

Hi Diane and Larry,

I have returned from Mexico and the good old U.S. of A. All a bit unexpected but nevertheless quite enjoyable.

During my absence nothing, of course, changed.

BUT two days ago I run into another small problem. The windows which opens when you start a new message came up without the ribbon. Don't know why. Of course I did Ctr+ F1 but the ribbon was overlapping the rest of the window and I fumbled around with mouse to try to get it into place. That worked! It sort of snapped into position at the top of the window.

AND, the contactgroup + sign was back. I have no idea why but this si what happens.
