Synching outlook 2007 with iCloud

I have been synching my iPhone and iPad with outlook 2007 via usb/itunes. Purchased new laptop (Windows 8 / outlook 2007) so I could use iCloud. When I synch calendars - I lose my appointments/calendar in the Today view - this is very important to my work - has anyone figured out a work around to this issue.....??
 
This is expected since Outlook Today shows appointments in your default data file. You can set iCloud 2 as a default as long as you don't use an imap account. If you don't want to change the default, there are sync utilities you can use to keep your local data file and the iCloud data file in sync. The tools list on this page has a list of sync utilities:
