I recently deleted a number of IMAP accounts in Outlook 2007, together with a Personal Folder which was no longer required. (The latter was backed up and transferred to another machine running Outlook, just in case I repented of the decision to delete.)
Then, during some routine PC housekeeping, I noticed that I had lost about 6GB of badly-needed disk space.
I worked out that deleting the accounts and the Personal Folder within Outlook doesn't delete the Outlook data files in the system. The size of the files accounts for the space lost. The files have been transferred over to a hard drive. Is it safe to delete the PST files?
Intuitively, I can't see a problem with that - but I have spent so much time recently transferring domains over to a new host and setting up new IMAP accounts (as well as web sites) that I simply can't face the trauma of putting things right if the deletion causes an Outlook malfunction.
Opinions much appreciated.
