Outlook 2013 Deleting all my messages

I'm new to Outlook 2013 and am having a problem with it deleting all of my messages as soon as I read them. Can't seem to find a setting to control this. (using an IMAP email account)
 
IMAP accounts sync with the server - so you need to delete them from Outlook and purge the deleted items. Go to File, Account Settings, double click on your account then More Settings, Advanced. What is the setting for deleted items - it's at the bottom of the dialog.
 
Deleted Items is set for "Purge items when switching folders while online"
I'll switch it to "Mark item for Deletion but do not move them automatically"
Sounds like it should help. What I'm after is to have it keep ALL e-mail unless I delete it.

BTW, since I'm using two computers to read messages it also seems to by "syncing" my messages.
If I read a message on one pc I can't review it on the other. Can I set it so I can see all the mail on both?
 
If you have both computers configured for imap, the mailboxes should be identical on both - all messages will be there, although some will be marked as read. if you don't want to mark messages as read, change the settings in View > Reading pane > Options so messages are marked read when you read in the reading pane. If you are using a view to hide read messages, change to a view that shows all messages.
 
That may be the problem....old PC is POP3 and new one is IMAP.
Any way to get it to work with that setup?
 
Easy fix: use IMAP on both computers. If that is not possible, On the pop3 computer, set it to never delete mail from the server. On the imap machine, if your pop3 account won't download messages marked as read, read in the reading pane and do not mark messages read.
 
I'll look into IMAP on both or use the "never delete" option.

Since my last message Outlook deleted all my e-mails again....not sure what's going on.
 
It sure sounds like the POP3 account is set to delete from the server. Do you have 2010/2013 on the old computer? In File, Account Settings, double click on the Pop account then More Settings. Leave on server is on the Advanced tab. In 2007, it's Tools, Account Settings.
 
Old pc has 2007 Outlook but I found the setting to leave copy on server....Changed it to leave a copy.
We'll see if that helps
