Viewing emails after error

Good Morning! Started my computer up this morning to the error "Cannot start Microsoft outlook invalid XML". I found the outlook.exe /resetnavpane and it fixed it! However, now my outlook is not allowing me to see any of the emails in my Inbox (or any other folder aside from deleted items). The folder break down on the left hand side of outlook is showing that I have new emails but in the display window, it says that "there are no items to show in this view". I am running Windows 8 and Microsoft office 2007 with a pop email account. New emails are being received, I just cant see them. I appreciate any and all help and hope that I posted this in the right place. Thanks!!
 
Thanks Dianne :) Can you provide a little more detail on how to do that?
 
So I found the info on the clearviews switch and it did not fix the problem. The Unread Mail folder also tells me that there are no items to view. UGH!
