Outlook 03 slow startup

Outlook 03 on the boss' computer starts up slow....I get the animated busy icon for 2 min.....even in safe mode. I've run the scanpst utility to no avail. I'm not sure what if anything I can do at this point. Any suggestions would be welcome.

This is a 64 bit win7 home premium machine, 2.4 g processor, 4g ram.
 
Does it start faster in Safe mode? To open Outlook in Safe mode: Close Outlook then hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon. You'll get a message asking if you want to start in Safe mode. Click Ok.

How large is the data file? It might help to archive older messages.
 
Slow in safe mode as well, yes.

Data file is 224 megs, but I'm not sure why, unless it's the calendar. We deleted all his old email stuff.....he's only got 2 days worth of emails there.....is there a way to wipe his calendar??
 
I wiped his calendar and that had no effect. He has no stored emails, nothing in the trash or the sent folder or the inbox, yet the data file is 244 megs.
 
Monkey, have you solved this yet? I'm experiencing the same on a new pc. Opens fast but mouse pointer spins for a full minute. Same in safe mode.
