Outlook Connector calendar sync problems with Android phone

I have set up Outlook Connector with Outlook 2010 to sync my calendar with my Android phone, but the syncing is inconsistent and sometimes occurs with a very long lag (several days). When I enter appointments on my phone, they sometimes don't show up on Outlook.com.

It worked well for almost two years, and I haven't changed any settings. What could the problem be? Have the recommended settings changed recently?
