I use Windows 7 but just added Outlook 2016 as a stand-alone feature. My GMail email is IMAP-configured, and I need to be able to categorize my emails according to color. I used to be able to do this when I had Outlook 2007, but the function no longer works in Outlook 2016.
Since IMAP supposedly does not allow for color categories, I read on slipstick about the workaround using keyboard shortcuts... Where assigning a shortcut to a color can trick accounts using IMAP to display a color: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/outlook-categories-flags-and-imap-accounts/
However, while I am able to apply the shortcut and create new colors on emails I click on in my archived folders, the shortcut function still does not work in my GMail account. What could be the problem?
Many thanks for your help!
